New iPhone App provides access to Paessler’s network monitoring solution anytime, any place
Paessler AG, a global provider of network monitoring solutions, has launched version two of iPRTG. The enhanced application, which has been designed exclusively for the iPhone, provides mobile access to Paessler’s network monitoring software, PRTG Network Monitor. This enables IT administrators to remotely access and monitor their network, anytime and from any location – without the need for a laptop or computer.
iPRTG is a convenient and time-saving tool for IT administrators who are already using Paessler’s PRTG Network Monitor to monitor network bandwidth, availability and usage. Mobile access makes continuous monitoring possible, enabling IT administrators to identify problems and resolve them before they escalate and seriously impact the business. For example, research* shows that companies in the retail industry face an average cost of £350,000 per hour during network downtime, while the finance industry faces costs of £100,000 per hour. PRTG Network Monitor assesses the performance of the network in real-time and sends instant alerts on any deviations from predefined monitoring parameters.
Enhanced functionality in version two of iPRTG gives administrators a high level of interactivity with their network monitoring software. They can not only see if there is a problem, but can also take the following actions directly from their iPhone:
• Pause monitoring for a sensor and/or device (for a limited time or
indefinitely)
• Acknowledge an alarm
• Resume monitoring
• Check the status of a sensor in real-time
• Add or remove a sensor or device to or from a favourites list
Users can drill down through the sensor-tree of probes, groups and devices to review and acknowledge alarms. Charts show the network status at a glance. Administrators can also manage multiple accounts on different PRTG servers, while the optimised ‘Maps’ feature allows easy selection and review of all network maps, using the simple touch-screen navigation.
Key benefits for IT administrators using iPRTG with PRTG Network Monitor include:
• Peace of mind – administrators can easily check for server downtime as needed, even when they are travelling
• Minimised costs – they can diagnose issues and take the appropriate action from anywhere in the world, minimising the costs associated with server downtime
• Improved productivity – they can also get up-to-date bandwidth, availability and usage data from one application, improving efficiency and response time.
Dirk Paessler, CEO, Paessler AG says, “Most businesses function all day, everyday and rely on their IT networks to maintain a constant flow of data, communications and backbone operations. Any downtime can result in the company grinding to a halt, with serious implications on cost and productivity. iPRTG takes the stress out of network monitoring, alerting IT administrators to problems as they arise, even when they are on the move. This spells greater assurance for the business and much more flexibility and freedom for IT administrators.”
iPRTG is available to download now from Apple’s iTunes App Store, at a one-off cost of £6.99. For further information and a demonstration video, visit http://www.paessler.com/iprtg
